Positioners

MP

​The positioner modules allow to rotate a working piece in a simple way and they fasten the production cycle. The positioner modules are made up of a motor, a reduction unit, a flange to support the equipment and a support for final assembling operations on special tools. In robot system applications, the Positioners can be managed as auxiliaries axes of the Robot and if necessary also in cooperation (with suitable software options). The available positioners are different in applicable lifting force, each version is identified by the MP acronym and a number indicating the lifting force.

PTDO

​Double Action Horizontal Positioners

COMAU Positioners allow the orientation of working pieces during the working cycle carried out by means of robotic cells. Positioners, use, as far as possible, mechanical units belonging to the COMAU family, engineered on purpose to interface each other and creating a meaningful product synergy.

The Positioner module may occur:

  • asynchronously with respect to the robot if a simple repositioning is sufficient between one phase of the process and the othe;
  • synchronously when the process to proceed without interruptions, such as for welding cylindrical parts. The Positioner turns the part, allowing the melted drips of the filler material to always fall by gravity into the groove to be welded. In this case the robot and Positioner shall cooperate and combine their motions on order to maintain the welding tool position, and the torch derived speed on behalf of the element to be welded is the one settled by the welding technician. This mode is practicable by means of special software options.

The PTDO Positioner is operated by the C5G Control Unit as a series of additional axes, typically integrated in the standard Control Unit that already manages the Robot

PDTV

​Double Action Vertical Positioners

COMAU Positioners allow the orientation of working pieces during the working cycle carried out by means of robotic cells. Positioners, use, as far as possible, mechanical units belonging to the COMAU family, engineered on purpose to interface each other and creating a meaningful product synergy.


The Positioner module may occur:

  • asynchronously with respect to the robot if a simple repositioning is sufficient between one phase of the process and the othe;
  • synchronously when the process to proceed without interruptions, such as for welding cylindrical parts. The Positioner turns the part, allowing the melted drips of the filler material to always fall by gravity into the groove to be welded. TR

​Rotary Tables

The TR rotary tables permit the angular positioning of parts during a machining cycle in automated cells, for example. The part to be machined is to be mounted on a specific fixture provided by the integrator, and fastened to the upper rotating plate of the table. The table base, secured to the ground, supports the motor and the reducer for the rotation around the rotary table vertical axis. The rotary table is provided with holes to mount the fixtures used to clamp the parts for machining. The tables may be supplied complete with servo-controlled motor managed as an additional axis of one of the robots of the Comau robot range, or they can be supplied without the drive unit.


There are two versions to choose from for each of the two tables described above, the MT version (multi turn) or ST(single turn); mechanically the tables differ in operation by the presence of the mechanical limit switch pad.


The TR rotary table is operated by the C5G Control Unit as an additional axes, typically integrated in the standard Control Unit that already manages the Robot.
